Just a couple Robot Drawings

Been really trying to find inspiration to draw more lately (and have succeeded somewhat)

I know it's not much, but it's a start... Looking at the work of guys like Willie Real and Jake Parker just really gets my blood moving to draw again, doing whatever i can to glean a little knowledge, and not FORCE myself to practice and draw but to really want to do it again, to be even have the confidence to put pen to paper and not be embarrassed to show someone my sketch book, or my blog.

I think i've just been focusing way too much on how crappy my drawings were and not focusing on JUST FUCKIN DRAWING to improve myself, every once in a while it takes a good measure of "fuck it-ness" for me to just go for it, and do what i can to improve myself.

Either way, more to come, y'all hold me to it!

New Moonbot App "The Numberlys" Released Today!

Today we released the next storybook App from Moonbot studios, THE NUMBERLYS!!!
Wired.com's Geek Dad says:

Moonbot has gone directly to their film-making roots with this production of The Numberlys. It opens with amazing landscape tracking shots of the Numberly city, a visual and audio spectacular that provides an animated industrialism and uniformity of which Lang would approve. The narrative is cute and whimsical and delivered in an upbeat generic European accent. In the opening of the app, the narrative appears as written text which is read by the narrator in-between these epic scenes of an industrial city, workers marching through dense city landscapes, working in factories, creating numbers – cogs turning, hammers hammering, conveyor belts moving numbers along the production line. The setting is clear.

The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore is FREE TO VIEW!!!!!

Hey all! If you haven't seen the short film The Fantastic Flying books of Mr. Morris Lessmore that i worked on here at Moonbot Studios, it's now FREE TO VIEW on Itunes!

We're currently on the "short list" to be nominated for an Academy Award for best animated short, which we're all crossing our fingers for, to have gotten THIS far is a huge honor in it's own right, but here's hoping we can take it all the way to the end and bring one of those shiny little gold men back home to the studio!

On a side note, the Storybook App of Morris Lessmore was also listed as one of the "Best Ipad Apps for Kids and Family" by ipadinsight.com

In the spirit of actually creating content for the blog again, i present Captain Benjamin Sisko.

This is actually the first small step in what will be an ongoing project where i draw and then sculpt sci-fi characters that i love. I basically just finished watching ALL of Star Trek Deep Space 9 which is probably where i will start!

I don't have a lot of experience sculpting really, but it's something that I've enjoyed doing in the past and is something that i want to get better at! if anyone has any good tips on armature making or any critique for this or any of the work that i post in the future, please don't hesitate to weigh in!

Cicada Princess short film NEEDS YOUR HELP!

I haven't ever checked out Kickstarter before, but after seeing this, i feel like it's something i should make a point to look at more often.

A word from the director:

Cicada Princess is a short film based on a children's book by the same title, both written and produced by Mauricio Baiocchi (Mauchi) with illustrations and character designs by Steve Ferrera.

Through miniatures and puppets, we follow the lives of the Cicadas emerging from the ground where they have been waiting as grubs for sixteen years. The Cicadas gather for the grand ball at the castle, knowing that when the sun rises their lives will come to an end.

The images and footage explain the project much better than words as does theCicada Princess website. The HD version of the video lives here.

Online viewing of Moonbot Studios short film!!!

I am currently working at Moonbot Studios and helped work on the short film: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. The film will screen nationwide at Starbuck’s via their in-store WiFi. Our screening dates are anytime during Friday, May 27th – Monday, May 30th.

Go with a few friends, get a nice cup of coffee and enjoy a wonderful 15 minute animated short. Don't forget to bring a laptop!!!!!!

Even if you cannot attend, please show your support by adding your entire friend list (Here is the Facebook group) because we want the world to see what we can do. What is great about this is that it is only the beginning for Moonbot Studios and its amazingly talented group of artists.

Apple Bump for the Moonbot App!

With the release of Moonbot's new Interactive Storybook App getting near, Apple is excitedly sharing it with others at trade and promotional events as one of the top new innovative Apps utilizing the power of the iPad 2. Our App is set to release later this month, but for now you can read some kind words about it HERE, on the Silicon Valley Mercury News.
